Sex workers call for reopening of hotels in CDMX

In recent days the sex workers represented by Arlen Palestina, legal representative of Brigada Callejera in Support of Women, had an interview with public highway officials of the City Government without reaching a solution to their problem.

The first meeting they sat us alone with the road reorganization people, with people only coordinating the territorial area, but they did not solve anything at all, they told us that they were not going to authorize even a few meters or allow the girls to work, remember that the girls They are sex workers and that they have won an amparo and the girls are recognized by the law as non-salaried workers, ”said Arlen Palestina, legal representative of the Street Brigade in Support of Women.

The legal representative commented that sex workers have been harassed by organized crime and demand money from them, hoteliers increase their prices and argue that they have no support of any kind.

Fernanda, 29 years old and mother of a family, started as a sex worker for a year due to the need of not having a job.

My name is Fernanda, I have been working in sex service for a year, it was necessary for that reason I decided to work, the only problem is that they have not opened hotels such as the Revolution, the La Fuente hotel, the Niño hotel, the Poli hotel, they are from the colony Guerrero, we asked Sandra Cuevas to open the hotels to be able to work ”.

The avenues Ribera de San Cosme, Insurgentes Centro and México-Tenochtitlán are affected, also obstructing the service of Line 1 of the Metrobús that runs from Indios Verdes to the Caminero, affecting the Revolución and Plaza de la República stations.

The blockade will persist until some authority from the Cuauhtémoc mayor’s office or from the central government give a solution to their request. If they do not have it, they will continue with their demonstration.
